Mastering your Career Change

Changing your career path is really hard and daunting but if you've already decided and you want to start this process, be sure to Master this Step!

There are multiple challenges associated with the career-change process so you have to employ some powerful techniques and strategies such as:

*Know exactly what you want to pursue

*Find your targeted field and research company types

*Highlight your best transferable skills which relate to your new field

*Network and make impression, the most important step in a career change is networking (since your resume is less useful in the transition the focus should be on networking).

*Connect with people in your new targeted field and follow up with them to learn about any upcoming opportunities. To do that you should create a professional online account and use it to network with other professionals around you. There's many social media websites where you can join free such as My Space, LinkedIn etc. (LinkedIn being ranked as # one for professional use).

To help you more with your career change options you can use many useful tools available at any Employment Resource Centre at your nearest library.

Update:
As of July 7, 2012  all Employment Resource Centres closed at London Public Library. We continue to help with information and tools to assist your search for work. Find out more.
