Using the LEDC website to research a company

Researching a company that you would like to apply to is a very important step in your job search.  Often, job seekers come into the library looking for a way to get essential information about companies in the London area and one of the tools I like to consult is the London Economic Development Corporation’s (LEDC) website. Not only does the LEDC report about current job developments in the London area, it provides job seekers with a fairly comprehensive business directory. Companies can be searched alphabetically based on industry, or a general list of all companies in the database can be generated.

Entries list,

  • the contact information
  • number of employees
  • company website (if provided)
  • most companies also include a small profile about their business and area of specialization.

Searchers can also sort results based on NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) numbers. Another great thing is the LEDC’s website is linked on the library’s Searching for Work page under the Research a Company heading.
