My top 5 Resume Tips

You've got only 10 to 30 seconds to make an impression with your resume.  Make sure it counts!

1. Target your job: Match your skills to the position you are applying for, highlighting your most important and relevant qualifications.

2. Avoid writing anything negative: Tell them what you DO have, not what you DON'T.  Include accomplishments, abilities and strengths.  Ask others to give you advice.

3. Be brief and concise: Make your resume easy to read.  Use strong action words, bulleted points and avoid pronouns.

4. Organize and format your resume: Find a good balance between content, white space and special formatting like bullets and underlining.  The final result should look professional and appealing.

5. PROOFREAD, PROOFREAD AND PROOFREAD! Your resume should be free from spelling, grammar and typing errors.  Ask a friend or family member to read your resume and make sure it is absolutely perfect.
