Chicago

book cover image: Lonely Planet Pocket Chicago

If you are a regular traveller you are most likely quite familiar with the Lonely Planet travel guides.  Since 1973, Lonely Planet has become the world's leading travel media company with guidebooks to every destination and they also have the award-winning Lonely Planet website.  Inside Lonely Planet Pocket Chicago you will find the most up-to-date advice on what to see and what to skip, where to eat and where to sleep. You will also find, amongst other things:

  • Highlights and itineraries
  • Insider tips (get around like a local)
  • A Chicago map and 15 neighborhood maps
  • Essential information - hours of operation, phone numbers, websites, transit tips, prices

If travelling to Chicago is going to happen in the near future or even if it is just on the "one of these days" lists this is a book worth perusing.  I admit to not being much of a traveller, at least not a very good one anyway (plus I get lost at the drop of a hat) so a really good travel guide is mandatory for me.  If I was going to Chicago a copy of Lonely Planet Pocket Chicago would be, well, in my pocket.  If you are travelling be sure to check it out, or if like myself your an arm chair traveller it is still a good book to browse.  Maybe something in there will picque your interest and you will find yourself heading that way after all.
