True North Favourite: Ready, Set, Go!

ready set go book

I have been a runner and a huge fan of Robert Munsch's books for years! We have so many amazing trails right here in London and every Spring and Fall (and even in the winter) there are many races to sign up for to keep you motivated. I love the way Robert Munsch has captured the craziness of race day in his book Ready Set Go! Sometimes there are quirky costumes (pink tutus) and performers cheering you on - one race I did last year had rock bands belting out tunes along the route. Sometimes there are super serious runners who don't like being bothered. There are always the red or green faced runners who may fall over at any second. And the fear of dehydration plagues many runners, so I love that the whole book is based around Miranda getting her dad some water. This year - Canada's big birthday - is extra special, since my kids have finally agreed to join me in a race. Look out runners for a couple of Munsch reciting "pipsqueaks"!
