is a year-round project established in 1992, with an annual campaign during November and December organized by Library staff and The Friends of the London Public Library. The goal is to give books to children who otherwise would not own a book. A Book for Every Child® promotes awareness of the importance of books in a child’s life, supports family literacy and has a direct and lasting impact on children in our community.
Financial donations enable Library staff to purchase new books for babies, toddlers, beginning readers, school-aged children and young adults on your behalf. You may also purchase books for A Book for Every Child ® at participating book stores in London. The books are distributed to children who otherwise would not own a book, through more than 50 area agencies serving families and children.
This marks our 20th annual campaign of giving! In the past 19 campaigns we have been able to distribute nearly 136,000 books to children, thanks to generosity of Londoners! Last year alone, we distributed over 6,000 books. The 2011 campaign runs from November 5 to December 17. Together we can make this 20th annual campaign our best ever!

Thank you letter from a community agency
“ The children that we select to receive your books are truly kids in need. These are kids that would otherwise possibly never own a book of their own. Many of our children are quite lonely...curling up with a good book can help to fill some of this void....”
