Get a Library Card

With a library card, you can:

  • borrow books, cds, dvds, and magazines... for free!
  • add comments to the web blogs
  • use library computers
  • get magazine and newspaper articles for school projects from the information databases (HINT: teachers are really impressed when you use articles from these)

It's a no brainer.

It's easy to get a card.  If you're 16 and over, go to your local library with personal and address ID and tell us that you'd like a card.  If you're 15 and under, your parent(s) should accompany you and use their address ID for your card.

Either way, it just takes a couple of minutes to get a card... not a lot of time to gain access to so much.

If you choose, you may print off one of the applications below, fill it in, and bring it to the Library to get your card.

Library Card Application - 16 years and over
Library Card Application - 15 years and under

The Legal Stuff

Any person may use, on the premises, many of the materials and services of London Public Library without obtaining a Library card. Library cards are:

  • required to borrow library materials and use certain library computers
  • free to residents of the City of London
  • free to residents of Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin Counties (excluding the towns of Woodstock and Tillsonburg) under reciprocal borrowing agreements. They must present proper address identification and a current County, Strathroy or St. Thomas library card.

To qualify for borrowing privileges, a person must provide identification, both personal and address.  Borrowing privileges are granted by the London Public Library Board to applicants who provide proper identification, sign the borrower's card, and thereby take on the responsibility of following the rules and regulations of the library system.

If the applicant is 15 and under, a parent’s address identification may be accepted.  The parent/ legal guardian signs the library card to accept responsibility for items borrowed.  Library cards may be obtained at any Library location.
