Did you paint the River Thames at your library?

London is celebrating the Thames River this year and many of you visited your local library during March Break to help paint pictures of the River. Here are the finished pictures, put together so you can watch the seasons change! Make sure you have the sound turned on.

Kids First Day - Friday, April 18th

Drop in to any Library location and take part in our River Quest:

Help us "Celebrate the Thames 2008" by finding hidden plants and animals in the Library.  While you learn about each one, you will get a clue to help you on your quest to solve the mystery puzzle.

Kids First Day is a way for kids and their families to join Investing in Children and its community partners to celebrate the wonderful opportunities that London has to offer for children and to recognize the people, businesses and organizations that make them possible.

Pick up your passport and make the Library one of the places you visit on Kids First Day.  If children visit at least three partner locations, they can enter their passport into a draw to win one of the many great prizes donated by the community.  All you need to do is pick up a passport at your first partner location, and drop it off at the last location you visit.

We LOVE a good story!

It's Valentine's Day and love is in the air - and in some of our favourite books!  Did you know that there are lots of great "love stories" in the library?  What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than to share a great "love story" with someone that you care about?

Book Cover Image: Slugs in Love by Susan Pearson Slugs in Love, by Susan Pearson is an adorable story about Marylou and Herbie, two garden slugs, who write love poems in slime to one another but have trouble actually meeting.  Just click on the book cover image to find this book in the library.

Book Cover Image: The Ballad of Valentine by Alison JacksonThe Ballad of Valentine by Alison Jackson is another great story about love poems and messages.  You'll want to sing along as 'Darlin' Valentine' makes her way through this musical tale, just missing each of the love letters that her admirer sends her way.
