Cultural Profiles Project
Each cultural profile provides geographic information and an overview of life and customs in one of 80 countries from which immigrants arrive in Canada. "To Learn More" section included which lists other web sites. Citizenship & Immigration Canada has developed these profiles in association with the University of Toronto's Faculty of Social Work. 

Geographical Names of Canada
This official Canadian government site provides map coordinates and geographic designations [e.g. City, Village, River] for all Canadian places. It includes short histories of how a place was named, e.g. “Canada”. Map links are no longer provided by this site but it links to each Provincial government geographical webpage.

Industry Canada: Trade Data Online
Looking for information on Canada's trade with other countries? Here you can find out our top 5 exports to Burundi or our top 5 imports from Germany. A simple search interface allows you to search by product,or by type of trade (import or export), enables you to choose from all the countries we have trade relationships with and to search information for all of Canada or province- specific.

MapQuest [for North American maps]
A useful site, not only for maps showing streets within cities, locating cities in states or provinces, and showing countries, but also to give distances between places and driving directions.

Multimap [for International maps]
This site will allow printing of outline maps of any place in the world. It also gives street maps and travel directions for the UK and Europe, and has an interactive London underground map. International maps are generally not as detailed as MapQuest North American maps.

Nation Master
View profiles of countries with information from crime to geography to transportation. Includes flags and maps. An excellent source of national statistics and you can generate graphs to compare nations. Data comes from the CIA World Factbook.
