About Human Library
First introduced in Denmark, Human Library offers you the chance to engage in conversations with people in your community whose life experiences may have been very different than your own. A Human Library is an idea that is gaining popularity around the world as a simple way for people in a community to really get to know each other.

LPL's purpose is to highlight some of the stories of people who have been, or are experiencing, barriers that have prohibited them from enjoying a full life in London because of poverty, mental illness, homelessness or addiction and many other struggles.

How it Works

Visitors to a Human Library event are given the opportunity to have an honest conversation with someone in their community who may have a different background, different values or a new perspective. The “Books” in a Human Library are volunteers who welcome the opportunity to be open about who they are and the chance to open eyes and minds.More information about Human Libraries can be found at Human Library International

Our Human Library event will take place in quiet spaces in a few Library locations and most “Books” will be available for several half-hour conversations.
