Check out Jo Cool, an interactive online module for students to test their Web surfing skills and knowledge of Web issues, and Barry's Bulletin, a monthly newsletter by Canadian media educator Barry Duncan that explores events and issues from popular culture.

Center for Media and Democracy
An American based organization with a mission to promote transparency and an informed debate by exposing corporate spin and government propaganda and by engaging the public in collaborative, fair and accurate reporting.

Center for Media Literacy
A site from a long-established California-based organization, offering a resource catalogue, reading room with articles on media literacy topics, and annotated links.

Media Education Foundation
The Media Education Foundation produces and distributes documentary films and other educational resources to inspire critical reflection on the social, political and cultural impact of American mass media.

Who Owns What
From Columbia Journalism Review, this site provides information about what major media corporations own. Its focus is US corporations so not information on Canadian companies is available.

New Mexico Media Literacy Project
One of the oldest and most successful media literacy organizations in the USA. Their mission is to cultivate critical thinking and activism in our media culture to build healthy and just communities through training, presentations and a mulitude of resources.

Adbusters Magazine
Based out of Vancouver BC, this provactive magazine provides anti-consumerism and pro-social advertising. The magazine concerns itself with the physical and cultural erosion of the world due to commercial intersts.
