Winston Churchill will be performing at the Teen Annex, at the Central Library on Thursday, Nov.13th at 7:30 p.m. We wanted to know more about this local indie teen band and its members -- how do bands form? who writes the music?  Here's what Winston Churchill had to say...

Interviewer:  What style of music does your band play?
Winston Churchill:   Alternative, metal, punk...grunge.

Interviewer:  Do you write your own material and what influences that (books, life, movies etc.)? Who writes most of the lyrics/music?
Winston Churchill: The song writing is shared equally between Mike C., Sam and Turbo (Adam R.).  Usually the lyrics and music for each song are written by the same band member.  Songs are inspired by current events, society, and life in general.

Interviewer: What musical influences does your band have, if any? What other bands do you guys listen to?
Winston Churchill:  Some bands that have influenced us include Led Zeppelin, Leftover Crack, Nirvana, NoFX, Rage Against the Machine, Rise Against, SNFU, Stone Temple Pilots, Sum 41, Tool and The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Interviewer: How long has your band been together? and How/Why did you all get together?
Winston Churchill:  We have been together for almost a year now.  We joined together for a school project in which Mike C. had to write a song, then during practice for the project we realized, "Hey! We've got a band!"

Interviewer: What ambitions do you have for your music and your band?
Winston Churchill: We would like to work our way up to bigger venues, developing a fan base as we go.  Hopefully in a year or two we can get a recording contract and record a full-length album.

Interviewer:  What is the best gig you guys have played so far?
Winston Churchill: Probably our first gig at the Central Library.  It was great to finally have a full half hour to play all the songs we wanted to, instead of having to choose 2 or 3 songs for bits of a school performance.
