Remarkable birds can be discovered just by looking out the window or by going for a stroll in the park. To help identify some of the more unusual birds you see take a copy of the National Geographic or Sibley field guide to the birds of Eastern North America or one of many other bird identifying books available at the library. Join or read one of many excellent online bird blogs to see great photos of everday and not so everday birds from all over the world. Take the kids, the dog and your camera and head out and you too may discover that you are a natural born birder. For hints and tips on tools and techniques check out National Geographic 's birding essentials and browse the library catalogue for our many other guides and manuals. See you out there. Pat
