Branches Close By

Masonville and Beacock are branches closest to Northridge.

Situated in a neighbourhood plaza,  Northridge  originally opened in 1972 as an extension of the Northland Branch providing service to the Stoneybrook and Masonville areas west of Adelaide Street. Although the facility lacks a meeting room, Northridge has provided a variety of children's programs for its community as well as Internet access and other computer applications for children, adults, and job seekers.

We know Northridge Branch Library is a big part of the community and has been for nearly 38 years. We also know change is difficult.

But the time has come to move beyond the limited space with few amenities into a new large state-of-the-art facility. The new branch at Sunningdale and Adelaide is on schedule to open this fall.  We are working hard to make sure that the Northridge community will find much of value in the new library!

Northridge will close Saturday, June 19  - our lease will be up at the end of June. The closing will be marked by a community open house on June 19 to celebrate our years together in this location. We invite the whole community to share photographs and stories to be included in the event (drop them off at the Branch - we'll return them too!) and of course everyone is invited to share their memories as well at the open house itself.

Our "library use mapping" shows that many people in the community who use Northridge also use the Masonville and/or Beacock Branches. We have heard from these patrons that they appreciate the relevant, accessible and high quality services offered by these neighbouring full-service branches. We will make sure that we have the resources in place at Masonville and Beacock to welcome and support any new users coming from the Northridge community.

The Libro Library Road Show will provide selected services this summer, including the TD Summer Reading Club, storytimes and visits to Mother Teresa Day Camp, Northridge Pool & the Northridge School Day Camp.
