Interview with UNDYING PROMISE
* Undying Promise
recently were co-recipients of the Jack Richardson Youth Award.  Congratulations, Undying Promise! *

How did you come up with your band's name?
Our lead guitarist, Julianne B. was just spitting out band names and we came across the name Undying Promise.

What style of music does your band play?
We can play many types of genres but we tend to focus more on alternative/pop/rock.

Do you write your own material?
Yes, we do.  It's awesome.

What influences that (books, movies, life etc.)
We are mostly influenced by each other and other types of music.

Who writes most of your lyrics/music?
Our band is unique in the way that we like to write our lyrics and music together.  What we'll do is that we'll just start jamming together, and if we find guitar riffs, or drum fills, or anything like that, that sound cool together -- that is usually the start of our songs.  Then, later we write the lyrics together when we are done the music part.

What musical influences does your band have?
Mostly other alternative rock bands.

What other bands do you listen to?
Three Days Grace, Blink 182, Foo Fighters.

How long has your band been together?
We've been together for about 9 months.

How and why did you get together?
Julianne and Sharon met at Central Elgin; they both were extremely musically inclined and decided to just jam out together one day.  Then...one day they were like, "Hey, let's go to the talent show at our school".  And so they did.  And...they won second place.  BUT WHO CAME IN FIRST?  Nobody but Justin M!!!!  Julianne and Sharon were extremely angry with this man because he sang beautifully and played guitar with grace.  BUT...because Sharon and Julianne were so nice, they planned an evil plot to have Justin M. become their lead signah!!  He politely agreed and THAT was when UNDYING PROMISE was formed!

Julianne, Justin and Sharon noticed that at the talent show the sound was so bad.  They were angry with the sound and decided to consult the sound man.  They were face to face with a man named Andrew Ch. who happened to play BASS (GASP!). So we stole him.  And THAT was how the CURRENT Undying Promise was formed.

What ambitions do you have for your music and your band?
We want to pursue our dream in becoming the next big thing.  We also want our music to consistently improve and just be exposed to different people.

Who are the members of your band?
Our band consists of Andrew Ch., our bassist, Sharon-Rose M. our percussionist, Justin M. our main vocalist and rhythm guitarist, and Julianne B. our lead guitarist.

What is the best gig your band has played so far?
Our best gig that we've played together would probably be our show at the London Music Hall.  The sound was balanced and equal and we did not experience any problems there.
