Recently I was able to attend a seminar about genres in fiction. It was an interesting session. One of the emerging genres that was discussed was called "fan fiction". This is the latest craze in fiction writing. Wikipedia defines fan fiction as : "a broadly defined term for fan labour regarding stories about characters or settings written by fans of the original work." When I did a little digging I found that the library has had lots of fan fiction all along. You may have heard of the more popular titles that have really shed a light on fan fiction lately like "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters". But there are many other titles out there. Perhaps you have been a fan of 'fan fiction' all along? Here are a few for you to try. Enjoy!

More Fun About Fan Fiction
Recently, like Ellie, I had the opportunity to complete training at London Public Library about exciting emerging genres in fiction. When learning about fan fiction, I was amazed by how many titles were, in fact, inspired by the original Pride and Prejudice novel by Jane Austen--most of which appear to feature one of the central characters in that story: Mr. Darcy. Some of these titles include:
"Mr. Darcy Broke My Heart" - Beth Pattillo
"The Private Diary of Mr. Darcy" - Maya Slater
"Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife: Pride and Prejudice Continues" - Linda Berdoll
"Mr. Darcy's Daughters" - Elizabeth Aston
For further information, check out London Public Library's fiction recommendation lists. Click on the "Read" section of the website. Select "Fiction." Please notice (towards the bottom of that screen) that one of the staff picks lists is "We Recommend: If you like Jane Austen, then try..."
Happy Hunting!
