Energy saving, environmentally conscious initiatives are in place and "greening up" programs for all Londoners aimed at providing education and raising awareness of environmental responsibility will be featured throughout the year at London Public Library locations.
You’ll see a “greening up” logo beside a number of programs in the Spring issue of Access Magazine. Programs sporting the logo will tell you more about the environment and how to care for it by reusing, reducing and recycling. Others have been marked for their “local” - and therefore greener - content.
One new environmental initiative is a solar power project at Landon Branch Library in partnership with the City of London and the Old South Community Organization.
"It will be fun for all of us to see energy being collected in real time at Landon Branch and to get a sense of how much energy can be saved through even a small project like this." Says Susanna Hubbard Krimmer, Library CEO. “The Library is especially proud to be a part of the new North London Community Recreation Centre, YMCA and Library facility being built to the highest (Gold) standard of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. “
