Three cheers for CBC News. In a recent item, our national broadcaster exposed a long-standing "scam"; that is, websites which trumpet government grants for business. What's wrong with that, you ask? For one thing, the sites charge $500 for information which is available for free. For another, there are almost no government grants for the average business startup. As one entrepreneur told the CBC: "Most of the listings are for loan programs. The only grants are for specific sectors like agriculture and the arts."
