Changes to the Canada Pension Plan

Changes to retirement pension benefits began in 2011 and will continue to be phased in until 2016.  The changes are being made to reflect the fact that the average Canadian retirement age has been increasing.

These changes will affect you if you are:

  • an employee who contributes to the CPP
  • a self-employed person who contributes to the CPP; or
  • between the ages of 60 and 70 and you work while receiving your CPP

These changes will not affect you if already receive a CPP retirement pension and stay out of the workforce

Service Canada has posted  the details of the Changes to the Canada Pension Plan on their website. One of the very significant changes is the elimination of the work cessation test which will allow you to transition into retirement. Be sure to check out their website to review your new retirement options.

Preserving a book

You may certainly call a professional or you could use the following suggestion for archival storage of a book.

Shelve the book or books in their individual dust jackets if they are still available.  This will keep dust and grime away. If the book is one display make sure it is standing upright to help maintain its shape.

  • If the book is being stored pack it snugly preferably in an upright position of possible.  Use a custom-made archival box made of high-quality, acid-free, alkaline-buffered materials. These boxes can be purchased online or at craft stores.
