Our Voice

It's a new year and you know what that means...New Year's Resolutions time! While many people set goals related to relationships or health or finance, why not try a book-related goal this year? A great way to widen your book horizon is to participate in a reading challenge! I've listed a few of my favourites below:

The Orthodox Church in Canada will celebrate Christmas on January 7th according to the Gregorian calendar.  One hundred years ago today (January 6, 1917), prayers were held for the first time in the newly-opened Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Eastern Church on the southwest corner of Dreaney Avenue and Layard Street. That building is still standing today.

100 years ago yesterday on January 3, 1917, the O'Brien Business College was opened by William J. O'Brien

I have been eagerly awaiting Ruth Ware's new novel, The Woman in Cabin Ten - pretty much since I turned the last page in her first book - In a Dark, Dark Wood! Yes, her books are that good!

At the time of his death, Christopher Hitchens was one of the most notorious atheists in the world. And yet, all was not as it seemed.

Sixty years ago on January 1st, 1957, Elvis Presley's first film, Love Me Tender, opened at the Capitol Theatre, 204 Dundas Street, London, Ontario
