Getting Started

  • Go to the PressReader log in page through the Library website. If you are offsite enter your Library Card number and PIN.
  • When accessing PressReader offsite, you will need to login through the library's website every 48 hours using your web browser. This will let PressReader know that you are a London Public Library card holder.
  • If you are on a computer, there will be a pop up that says PressReader HotSpot, you can Select Publication from this or close it to view your Home Feed. If this pop up doesn’t appear, click on the Green Cup in the top left hand corner.
  • You can search the collection for a particular title or browse by country, language, category, or publication type, pick your title and enjoy.

Create a PressReader Account (OPTIONAL)

A PressReader account is not required to read online using your computer or device’s browser. It is only required if you want to save personalized settings, share articles, or download newspapers and magazines for offline reading through the app. It requires you to enter an email address, name, and password. Please note that the name is publically displayed should you choose to post comments.

To create an account:

  • Using a web browser, go to PressReader and enter your Library Card number and PIN.
  • Close the PressReader HotSpot pop-up message.
  • Select the Sign In link near the upper right corner of the page. Click on New User? Sign up now.
  • Enter your email, password, and name.
  • Read the PressReader Terms of Use and Privacy Policy then click Done.

Download the App

You can access PressReader on iOS 9.0 or later, Android (version varies with device), and Windows 10.

If you are using the Library’s wifi, you will have complimentary access for up to 48 hours after leaving the Library. Once this timeframe has ended, you will need to return to the Library’s wifi in order to start another 48 hours of access.

Using the App with the optional PressReader Account

To use the app from home, you will need to follow these instructions:

  • Log in to PressReader using your browser with your Library Card number and PIN. Sign in to your PressReader account (see above for instructions).
  • Download and open the app and log in with your personal account information.
  • Look for the green cup (usually at the top or bottom of the app) which indicates you are signed in.
  • Search collections or browse by country, language, category, or publication type.
  • Choose a publication and begin reading.
  • You can also download material to view offline by clicking on the Arrow Symbol to the right of the title. Click Downloaded at the bottom of the app to see your downloaded publications. Select any one to begin reading.
  • Once the complimentary access has expired, you will need to log in using the Library’s website on your device’s browser again.
