PressReader gives you same day access to newspapers and magazines from around the world in full colour, full page format and available in over 60 languages. With PressReader you can hold an enhanced digital replica of your favourite publication and read it cover to cover.

Good to Know

  • PressReader has publications from over 120 countries and in over 60 languages.
  • You can translate the interface into 12 different languages.
  • Individual articles and issues can also be translated into other languages.
  • You can search for publications as well as do an advanced search to research a topic.
  • You can alternate between Page View and Text View.
  • Please note that you can enjoy reading the Globe and Mail while at the Library but it is unavailable when you are off site.

Getting Started

  • Go to the PressReader log in page through the Library website. If you are offsite enter your Library Card number and PIN.
  • When accessing PressReader offsite using a browser, you will need to login through the library's website every 48 hours. This will let PressReader know that you are a London Public Library card holder.
  • If you are on a computer, there will be a pop up that says PressReader HotSpot. If this pop up doesn’t appear, click on the Green Cup in the top left hand corner.
  • You can search the collection for a particular title or browse by country, language, category, or publication type, pick your title and enjoy.

Create a PressReader Account

A PressReader account is not required to read online using your computer or device’s browser. It is only required if you want to print, use the app from home or personalize your settings. It requires you to enter an email address, name, and password. Please note that the name is publically displayed should you choose to post comments.

To create an account:

  • Using a web browser, go to PressReader and enter your Library Card number and PIN.
  • Close the PressReader HotSpot pop-up message.
  • Select the Sign In link near the upper right corner of the page. Click on New User? Sign up now.
  • Enter your email, password, and name.
  • Read the PressReader Terms of Use and Privacy Policy then click Done.

Download the App

You can access PressReader on iOS 9.0 or later, Android (version varies with device), and Windows 10.

To use the app from home, you will need to follow these instructions

  • Download and open the app.
  • Look for the Sign in icon at the bottom.
  • Select to sign in through your library (orange icon).
  • Search for London Public Library.
  • Enter your Library Card and PIN.
  • PressReader will then prompt you to create an account with your name, email and a password.
  • You will have 30 days of access to PressReader prior to having to sign in again.

The Book a Librarian service offers personal, one-on-one help with London Public Library's databases, online resources and print collections. Appointments can be made Monday to Friday during business hours at the Central Library. Request an appointment using our online form. You can make up to 2 appointments per month.
