Media Literacy Week Nov 4 - 9

A highlight of this year's Media Literacy Week campaign is our Internet Safety Workshops for parents and children from 8-12 years of age.  Workshops take place on the evening of Tuesday, Nov 5 at the Sherwood Library and on Saturday, November 9 at the Central Library.  Workshops are free but advance registration is advised.  More information can be found here or watch our Rogers TV daytime interview here.

This workshop is an interactive and collaborative session for parents and children to attend together (geared toward children between the ages of 8 and 12). The workshop will focus on the importance of appropriate internet use, protecting passwords and personal information, using netiquette (online manners), and the appropriate responses to cyberbullying. Each family will receive a take home workbook.

Check out more resources on our Media Literacy Week 2013 page here including 6 tips for Parents of Small Children and 6 Challenges & Tips for Teens. We'll be sharing these tips here on our website homepage and through our facebook and twitter pages as well.
