Owls Are Good at Keeping Secrets

book coverIf you think "A" stands for nothing more interesting than "apple", you must read Sara O'Leary's fantastical new picture book Owls Are Good at Keeping Secrets: An Unusual Alphabet. Along with learning upper and lower case letters, you find out that "Jellyfish don't care if you think they look funny when they dance", "Raccoons are always the first to arrive for a party", and like many of us, "Voles always want just one more book."  Jacob Grant's oh-so-fetching and imaginative illustrations show one-of-a-kind sights like a marching meerkat parade, and an astronomy-loving, hedgehog stargazer.  Clever, charming and relatable (I feel for poor Zebra, who "would like to be first.  Just once"), this is a standout alphabet book.
