Maybe some of you haven't heard, but the world is ENDING this Friday! Friday, December 21st marks the end of the Mayan calendar, and many believe that this date also marks the end of the world.

There are several methods of learning a foreign language: vocabulary based, grammar focused, double translation, immersion etc. And yet teachers create their own new techniques to make language learning easier, faster and more enjoyable. Michel Thomas, called "the world greatest language master" is one of them. His method is not new but still popular and according to his advertising does not require books, taking notes or memorizing.

I  first 'discovered Anne Holt when I read the Edgar nominated 1222 featuring recurring protagonist Hanne Wilhelmsen last year.  Holt is a Norwegian author and started the Hanne series in 1993. Holt has worked for the Oslo P.D., as a lawyer and a journalist and news anchor as well. This extensive background has added much authenticity to this crime series.
