In Sarah Dessen's Along for the Ride, bookish new high school grad Auden not only learns to ride a bicycle, she learns how to let go of her uptight, school-focused ways and have fun.  This was my perfect beach book -- it's Sarah Dessen so of course it's got romance!  But besides the cute guy, it's a good story about growing up with messed-up professor parental units and learning to take risks.  Did I mention there's bicycle riding involved?   A quick read that leaves time for a swim, a barefoot beach stroll & an order of fries.
