Library Board

Library Board

The London Public Library is "under the management and control of a board which is a corporation" (Public Libraries Act). Under provincial legislation, the Board is charged with seeking "to provide, in cooperation with other boards, a comprehensive and efficient public library service that reflects the community's unique needs."

Call for Applications for London Public Library Board

London City Council is now seeking applicants for City of London Civic Boards, Commissions and Special Committees, including the London Public Library Board.

Application deadline is October 19 at 4:30pm.

Find the application form on the City of London’s website.

London Public Library is currently implementing its 2022-26 Strategic Plan and requires a well-rounded Board with competent, experienced Trustees that reflects the demographics of the community, and are able and willing to understand and support the Library’s Purpose and Values. As a member of the Library Board, a Trustee must act honestly and in good faith, with the needs of the Library taking precedence over personal interests.

Public library boards are governing boards, legal corporations with the authority to make policy and to govern the library’s affairs under the Ontario Public Libraries Act. The Board consists of nine (9) members appointed by London City Council every four years following municipal elections, including seven (7) citizens-at-large.

For more details, please see our full Trustee Description. If you are interested in being a Board Member, please complete the application posted to the City of London web site by October 19.

For those interested in learning more about what is involved in being a London Public Library Board Member, we invite you to register for our LPL Board Question and Answer session on Zoom to be held on October 11, from 12-1pm. Register in advance here. After registering you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the Zoom webinar.
