Every October Friends of the Library holds a giant book sale. The sale offers a great assortment of books for all ages, as well as CDs, DVDs, VHS, audiobooks and magazines. There are also some specialty books and collectibles. All at bargain prices!

Friends of the Library takes donations of materials for the book sale all year round.

If you would like to donate items, please drop them off at your local branch library and let them know they’re for the Friends of the Library book sale, or, if you have several boxes, contact Friends to arrange for pick up.

Please review the materials donation guidelines.

Volunteers are very important to the successful operation of the book sale. Friends invite you to participate. Call or email if you’re interested in being a volunteer at the sale.

As a thank you, volunteers are invited to the Preview Sale & Reception the night before the sale opens to the public.

Friends of the London Public Library annually hosts Speaking With Friends, their fundraising Lectures on Literature and Literacy series.

Authors reading and speaking at the event over the years have included Emma Donoghue, Peter Robinson, Maureen Jennings, Eleanor Wachtel and Bill Richardson.

A reception, book sale and signing are also part of the evening. Admission to Speaking With Friends is by donation.

Speaking With Friends is a fundraiser for Child and Youth literacy programs sponsored by London Public Library.

A Book For Every Child®

book for every child logo pictureFriends of the Library assist in the annual A Book For Every Child® campaign that runs in November and December. Friends coordinate the participation of local book stores (many offer discounts on books purchased for the campaign) providing them with campaign information, and collecting donated books to be delivered to the library.

Every year many people make the campaign a success: generous Londoners who donate to the campaign, staff at book stores, library staff and Friends of the London Public Library volunteers.

The A Book For Every Child® campaign distributes over 6,000 new books to local children through 46 London agencies that work with families in our community.

Donations to the A Book for Every Child Campaign®  can be brought to any library location all year round.
