Current Updates

August 6 Update: We are excited to announce that most Library branches will re-open with limited services and quick visits encouraged. Locations will open in stages over several weeks. Find the re-opening schedule and more information at lpl.ca/reopen.

London Public Library has made the difficult decision to keep Library meeting rooms, including the Wolf Performance Hall, closed to the public until the new year. Current and recommended health and safety directives around indoor gatherings mean that it is difficult to effectively operate and manage London Public Library's community meeting and event spaces system-wide. If you have booked space this year, our Meetings and Events Services staff will be following up with you. We apologize for any inconvenience this decision may cause and look forward to a return to room bookings and rentals in the future.

July 13 Update: The Province announced today that most businesses and public spaces will be able to gradually reopen in Stage 3, with public health and workplace safety restrictions in place, while some high-risk venues and activities will remain closed.

We will share updates here as Stage 3 plans for London Public Library's services and locations are confirmed in coming weeks. At this time, all buildings remain closed to the public, except for Pick Up and Computer Services at Central Library.

Currently, we are able to provide access to library collections through Pick Up Service at all locations except for Lambeth and Glanworth and Public Computer Service at Central Library. See details of these services below. Library programs for adults, children and teens have online for the summer and can be found here.

July 6 Update: Starting July 14, Pick Up and Return Services will launch at Carson Branch Library with specific hours.

Please note that Pick Up Service hours at Carson Branch will be Tuesday - Saturday; 10am-12pm and 1-4pm (closed 12-1pm). Starting July 14, items can be returned to Carson Branch using the outside return chute.  When arriving for Pick Up Service at Carson Branch, please ring doorbell and have Library card ready.

June 22 Update: Pick Up Service for items on hold and a Public Computer Service pilot has launched at Central Library.

Access to these services is available using the Dundas Street entrance only. Access from Citi Plaza directly into Central Library is not available.

All Library items should be returned using the chutes on Dundas Street. Returns are not accepted inside.

Entry into Central Library (using Dundas Street entrance) is only available for those using Pick Up Service and Public Computer Service during service hours. No other Library areas or services are available. Washrooms are not available.

Public Computer Service at Central Library:

Public Computer Service at Central Library is available during Pick Up Service hours, with the last session available one hour before close (5pm or 12noon). This service will offer one 45 minute computer session per day per person on a first come, first served basis. A valid Library card is required. Free self-serve printing is available. Headphones and USB sticks are not provided. Limited staff assistance is available. Keep a safe distance from others at all times when using this service. Face masks are encouraged.

Pick Up Service at Central Library:

Pick Up Service at Central Library is located inside at the front desk on main floor. Use the Dundas Street entrance and return items using the return chutes outside on Dundas Street. Access from Citi Plaza directly into Central Library is not available. If you park underground at Citi Plaza, you will need to walk around to Dundas Street to pick up and return items. Keep a safe distance from others when using this service. Face masks are encouraged.

Returning Library Items

You can now return your items (other than large items) using the return chutes at any location except for Glanworth or Lambeth. Return chutes at Central Library are located on Dundas Street (inside return chutes are not available). Large items (Book Club bags, Board Games, Leisure Kits) should be brought to one of our Pick Up locations during service hours and not returned using return chutes.

The safety of our community and our staff is our priority in planning and and we will be closely monitoring information and directives from provincial and local health authorities, including those related to keeping a safe distance, minimizing contact and quarantining materials. As our service evolves, we will post updates here.

Don't have a Library card? Get a temporary card: www.lpl.ca/tempcard to use our Digital Collection or call us if you'd like a permanent card to place holds and use our Pick Up Service.
