Technology Policy
Types of Computers and Accessories
London Public Library locations have filtered and unfiltered computers for your free use. Signs on the computers designate the functions possible for that particular workstation.
You can choose a machine based on your needs.
Internet Station
- Available for up to 120 minutes per day
- Log on with your Library card number & PIN
- Each location has at least one machine which can be reserved. Book a computer online
- Browse the Internet, watch video content, check e-mail, play games
- All Internet computers operate on Windows 10
- Available software includes: Office 2010 Suite, Open Office, Adobe Reader, and Chrome, Firefox & Microsoft Edge web browsers
- Print from the Internet, e-mail or USB
- Save documents to a USB flash drive
- Limited staff assistance is available

Reserving a Computer
You may reserve an Internet computer before your visit to the library online, by telephone (519)661-4600, or in person. When you arrive to use the computer, look for the terminal with the reserved sign on it.
How to reserve a computer
- To complete a booking, you must have a PIN number already added to your library account. PIN numbers must be assigned in person at any circulation desk.
- You must also have logged into a library computer at least once before making a reservation.
- You may make a reservation at any catalogue or public workstation, reserve online on our website or ask staff for assistance.
- You can reserve up to 4 reservations over a 14 day period. As one is used, the counter drops back to 3.
- Reservations are made on the 1/4 hour (:00, :15, :30, :45) only, depending on availability.
- You should arrive before your scheduled reservation.
- Use only the machine that is reserved for you.
- If a reservation is cancelled, another may be made in its place until the maximum of 4 is reached.
- If reservations are missed, 10 minutes is docked from your daily time limit, but another reservation can be made.
- Take note of your reservation computer name to ensure you log on to the correct machine.
Accessories
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic USB drives, head phones, and other peripherals are not available for sale or loan at this time.
Computer Classes
Library programs, including computer classes, have been cancelled for the remainder of 2020.
Printing, Photocopying and Scanning Service
- Users can print in black & white from Library Internet computers at all locations; colour printing is available from the Second Floor computers at the Central Library
- NEW - Print from Home is a service which allows users to submit documents via the LPL website for printing and pickup at any LPL location. Print from Home print jobs cost 10 cents per page.
- Printing from USB drives and document scanning are available on Library photocopiers; documents can be scanned and printed in both colour and black & white
- Photocopiers can print documents saved as PDF, JPG, TIFF, or MS Office files (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, etc.); PDF files are preferred
- To use a USB with the photocopiers the drive must have a capacity smaller than 64GB and be formatted to FAT32
- Users can print directly from their own laptops, tablets, or smartphones using WebPrint. Visit the Wireless Web Print Help Page for instructions.
- Black & white printing/copying is 10 cents per page. Colour printing/copying is 25 cents per page.
