The Miracle Detective uncovers a mystery

When is a visit from the Blessed Virgin Mary considered genuine? Randall Sullivan, contributing editor to Rolling Stone, began his investigation in eastern Oregon in 1994 but quickly found himself asking questions of the Vatican's Sacred Congregation of the Causes for Saints and spending over a year in Medjugorje, a town in the former Yugoslavia where several seers have reported regular Marian apparations since the early 1980s. Caught up in a personal journey that took him from faith to doubt and back again, Sullivan proves a trustworthy guide for both skeptics and believers. Publisher's Weekly says this 2004 book "may emerge as the most comprehensive and engaging modern work in its field".
