Get off the Short Bus

What is the short bus? If you're disabled, you know.  Even if you're not, you will be inspired by a new book of the same name.

Jonathan Mooney was a short-bus rider - a derogatory term used for kids in special education. To learn how others moved beyond labels, he bought his own short bus and set out cross-country, looking for kids who had dreamed up ways to overcome obstacles that separated them from the so-called normal world. The Short Bus is his irreverent record of that odyssey, meeting thirteen people in thirteen states who taught him there's no such thing as normal.  And everyone can find their own special way.

In the spirit of The Short Bus, London Public Library has invited Jeff Schlemmer, Executive Director of Neighbourhood Legal Services of London to provide legal tips for disabled persons and people on social assistance.  Questions and Answers to follow. Free. Tuesday, Feb. 5 : 7-9.00 p.m. Location: Tonda Room, Central branch.
