Lawrence Hill conquers Canada Reads!

After a week of passionate debates on CBC radio, Lawrence Hill's award-winning historical novel The Book of Negroes was selected as the winner of the 2009 Canada Reads competition.  It was chosen and defended by television journalist Avi Lewis.  The CBC announced that it will be holding a month-long online book club so that Canadians all over the country will be able to discuss and celebrate Hill's wonderful book.  It is also a contender for London Reads 2009, so you'll have another chance to debate its merits and cast your vote, starting March 15th.
