Canadian Census Information

Every five years Statistics Canada conducts a national census and asks Canadians to count ourselves in.  The resulting data provides an unparalleled source of information about Canada and its population over time.

But accessing these statistics, either in the print format or online, can seem daunting at first when confronted by the quantity of information provided.

To help you navigate Stats Can we present three useful websites for those commonly asked questions.

Census Tract Profiles

Typing in something as simple as a postal code pulls up census tract profiles on smaller Canadian geographic areas with populations up to 8,000 that are located near large metropolitan areas.

Community Profiles

Vital local community statistics are available by typing in the place name.

Other Interesting Data Products

This covers typical questions about populations, households and families.
