Art, religion and E.H. Gombrich

"There is really no such thing as Art, there are only artists." With that bold statement, art critic E.H. Gombrich (1909-2001) had me hooked.  I read his classic The Story of Art from cover to cover and learned art is not for elites, but something everyone can appreciate.  In 2002, ArtNews magazine chose works by Gombrich as some of the "great art books of the century" and I discovered this week the great man wrote A Little History of the World, too.  According to Wikipedia, the 284 page book  "chronicles human development and, along the way, describes the beliefs of many major world religions".  Sir Ernst Hans Gombrich, it seems, had a lot of colours to his palette.
