Andrew Davidson's "The Gargoyle"

The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson is one that passed by my desk over the summer. It got smashing reviews and I haven't had a chance to read it. It's definitely on my  list. Have you read it? Let me know if it was a good one. It does sound intriguing! Here is a synopsis of what it's all about:

As the book opens, the narrator is driving along a dark road when he is distracted by what seems to be a flight of arrows. He crashes into a ravine and suffers horrible burns over much of his body. As he recovers in a burn ward, he awaits the day when he can leave the hospital and commit a carefully planned suicide. But then he meets Marianne Engle, who eventually allows him to take up residence in her huge stone home.
