A cover letter can seal the deal and get the employer’s attention to your resume. This potentially gives you a better chance to discuss your credentials with interviewer.

My tips for an effective cover letter are:

  1. It should be concise, brief, and simple.
  2. Acknowledge the employer of what position you are inquiring about.
  3. State specifically how you learned about the position.
  4. Call attention to your credentials (skills, work experience, and education) that is relevant to the position.
  5.  Acknowledge to the recipient your attached documents (resume, diploma, etc..)
  6. Don’t forget to proofread your cover letter carefully.
