Life as a Refugee

Can you spot a refugee in a crowd? Countless refugees arrive in Ontario each year, and the challenges they face as newcomers can be overwhelming. On Wednesday June 20th, please join us as we celebrate the lives and accomplishments of these diverse and resilient people at our fourth annual World Refugee day celebration.
Join us for Life as a Refugee as we highlight the accomplishments, challenges and diversity of refugees around the world, in Canada and in London. Connect with local refugees and refugee-serving agencies as we honour this historic day. Enjoy cultural entertainment, ethnic cuisine, workshops and interactive displays for all ages.  The event will feature keynote speaker Majdi Bou-Matar, who is a recent immigrant as well as the founder and artistic director of MT Space, a multicultural theatre company. MT Space will entertain us with their performance Seasons of Immigration, a dramatic interpretation of the immigration experience.  The Resilience Awards will also be presented at the event. These awards honour local refugees and refugee allies by recognizing and highlighting the stories of individuals who are making a difference.
Pre-registration for this event is required, as space is limited. To access the registration form and for further information, please visit the London Cross Cultural Learner Centre website by clicking here.
