book cover image

Painter, draughtsman, engraver and muralist, the Canadian artist Alex Colville always followed his own unique hyper-realistic style. In 1944 he was appointed a war artist and then proceeded to live the rest of his life creating his art.  In his own words: "my work emerges fairly directly out of my experience as a person -  I suppose I should say my total experience."
Alex Colville passed away on July 16th, 2013 at his home in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.  If you are interested in reading more about this unique Canadian artist, have a look at some of our resources here.
