Knitting yarns: writers on knitting

book cover image

Knitting Yarns is a thoughtful collection of essays by some well known contemporary authors celebrating the art of knitting. Twenty-seven writers tell their stories about how "knitting healed, challenged, or helped them to grow". Barbara Kingsolver describes sheering a sheep for yarn. Elizabeth Berg writes of her frustration at failing to knit. Ann Patchett talks of her "life through her knitting, writing about the scarf that knits together the women she has loved and lost". Sue Grafton shares her passion for knitting. The essays celebrate the authors' knitting triumphs and disasters which often parallel their life triumphs and disasters.
