This is a beautiful book about Hollye Jacobs' journey through an unexpected diagnosis and the grueling treatment of breast cancer.  As the book cover notes, Jacobs was a healthy, thirty-nine year old mother with no family history of breast cancer.  As a registered nurse the author was used to looking after others - this book is life from the other side of the equation.  What started as a blog to keep her friends up-to-date on her treatment has become this compassionate book.

The Silver Lining comes from Jacobs' attempts to find something positive in what was happening, and wanting to offer support to others going through similar experiences.  The design of the book is mastefrul with an inspiring, tasteful but honest photographic journal provided by Jacob's friend and award winning photographer Elizabeth Messina.  Chapters include Children Always Know, Chemo Sobby, Isolation Island, and Recovery Rhythms. Each chapter includes 'Lifelines" which are little tips for dealing with thoughts and emotions, as well as a Practical Matters section with checklists such as "What to bring to Chemo".  There is also a Glossary, a Resource Guide, a Recommended Books section for adults and children, a List of Websites, and an Index.  More information can be found at Jacobs' blog:
