R.I.P. Farley Mowat

farley mowat

Here at the library, we were sad to learn of beloved author Farley Mowat's passing on May 6th, 2014.

Mowat was born in Belleville in 1921 and raised in Ontario and Saskatchewan, and he was well-known for his 40 works of fiction and non-fiction.

His books were translated in to more than 50 languages.

He was made an officer to the Order of Canada in 1981, and received numerous awards and honours for his works.

Mowat was also an active environmentalist. He was a great Canadian voice who will be sorely missed!
