Gary Rivlin's book Katrina: after the flood traces the storms immediate damage and then chronologues it's lasting effects.  The book is comprehensive, capturing the rebuilding of the city and the impact on the psychic and social fabric of the city.  Well written, and totally interesting giving you a front row seat to the immense and far-reaching impact that active weather can bring to our fragile cities.  A book worth reading.
