Meet Alex Cooper

book cover image: Saving Alex

When she was fifteen years old Alex was yanked from her family home and placed in an unlicensed treatment centre.  She had told her parents she was gay.  The staff at the treatment centre promised her parents that they could save Alex from her homosexuality. Saving Alex is a brave and courageous memoir of one little girl's 8 months of abuse until she escaped.  With the help of a dedicated legal team in Salt Lake City this young lady made legal history in Utah by winning the right to live under the law's protection as an openly gay teenager.  This is the story of just one youth.  With a disproportionate number of homeless youth on the streets because of their sexuality or gender identification it is time for everyone to take a long, close look at this situation.  This story will help you understand the trauma, persecution and abuse these young people suffer just for the crime of being true to themselves.  Hopefully it will help lead to fairness, justice and truth in this important topic.
