Something Wicked This Way Comes

Carrie Book Cover
Halloween is almost here and with it comes an influx of ghosts and goblins, witches and monsters. But Halloween isn't just for kids! It's also the perfect night to curl up with a scary book (and maybe some leftover candy!). Here are a few of my favourite scary books:
  • The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris
"Good evening, Clarice." If you thought Anthony Hopkins as Hanibal Lecter was scary, look out - the book is WAY scarier!
  • Carrie by Stephen King
This might not be the first book that comes to mind when you think of Stephen King, but this story about an unhinged high school misfit with dangerous powers will chill you to the bone.
  • The Passage by Justin Cronin
If you're into vampires or viruses or medical experiments gone awry, this book is for you! Bonus: it's the first book in a trilogy, so you won't be left hanging.
  • The Deep by  Nick Cutter
This book, about a man who journeys into the Marianas Trench to find a cure for a strange disease that is obliterating humanity, scared me so much I could only read it during daylight hours.
