True North Favourite: Anne of Green Gables

anne of green gables

There are few things I can think of that are more Canadian than Anne of Green Gables!  I have loved the Anne books since I was a little girl, and there is a special place in my heart held for the spirited, imaginative Anne Shirley. When I was a teen my family drove from Ontario to PEI, and I got to see all of the places made famous in the book - Cavendish, the town that the fictional Avonlea is based on; the rivers and forests described by LM Montgomery; and even Green Gables itself! We even went to see Anne of Green Gables: The Musical! It was definitely one of my most memorable family vacations, and one that I will always treasure!
