Curing Tuberculosis in Muskoka

my canadian life

Come out and join Andrea Baston for the My Canadian Life 2017 series to learn the true story of Canada's first tuberculosis sanatorium, built in Gravenhurst, Ontario, in 1897.  This sanatoria and four other Muskoka sanatoria that followed, grappled with financial difficulties and public prejudice, over six decades, while their doctors pioneered treatments to save lives.  Andrea provides a compelling retrospective account of life for patients and hospital staff inside these sanatoria.  This is a great opportunity to have a real glimpse into Canadian Life experiences that helped shape the country we are today.  Not to be missed.
