Is that an intaglio or a lithograph?

I first became interested in prints and printmaking when I worked at the Landon Branch Library. Landon regularly displays art exhibits featuring the work of students taught by a local artist at the BealArt program.

Media Literacy... What is it?

The media. It’s here, there and everywhere. Owned by a few yet enjoyed by all.

What exactly is THE MEDIA? Well, we have television, billboards, radio, newspapers, movies, magazines, books, music, video games, animation, Internet, iPods, podcasts, video podcasts, cell phones, zines, blogs, wikis, taxis. Yes, I am including taxis… they now have advertisements inside and out.

Cold weather is coming - is your house ready?

One of the challenges of fall is that, in addition to finishing up all those to-do projects that were supposed to be finished by labour day weekend (like my basement reno!), it’s the time of year to be planning for winter weather. Autumn Gardening

Well gardeners, it’s that time of year again!  Whether we like it or not, it’s time to start thinking about readying our gardens for the “W” season (I just can’t bring myself to say that word yet).  It’s been such a glorious autumn that thinking about this is almost painful, but if we want our gardens to be even better next year…and what gardener doesn’t?, we have to do a few things.

Welcome to Your New Website

Yes, you absolutely need a cover letter

You spent all morning wrestling with the latest version of word processing software to create and fine tune your résumé. Then you spent all afternoon searching the Internet for job postings or tracking down contact information for companies you’d like to apply to. Now you’re ready to grab the bull by the horns and get those résumés out!

Personal Transformation

Remember when September meant going back to school, and you were walking around full of apprehension and excitement waiting to see what the year would bring? You absolutely HAD to have new clothes, a new haircut, and lots of new school stuff. Anything to show that you were not the same old you; that this time the summer had changed everything.

But you’re older now, and that’s all over and done with…right?

Personal transformation never really ends.

Children Staying Home Alone

Now the kids are back in school for another year, are you wondering what to do with your children for those few hours before and after school while you are at work? Is your child expressing an interest to stay home alone instead of going to an organized before and after- school program or a babysitter? How do you know if your child is ready for this new responsibility?
