UNESCO World Heritage Sites

I was surprised to learn that out of 878 world sites, Canada actually has 15, the newest of which is "Joggins Fossil Cliffs" , designated in 2008. You can see all of them in a new, beautifully illustrated book, "World Heritage Sites".
Pleasure Craft Operator Card
17 September 2009 - 8:41pmAhoy!!! As of September 15, 2009, Canadian boaters driving a motorized watercraft must carry a Transport Canada-mandated Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC). In order to obtain your PCOC you need to score 75% or higher on the Transport Canada accredited exam which covers navigation rules, boating terminology, emergency markers, bouys and safety equipment and right of way regulations.
'Fair' Weather
16 September 2009 - 3:25pmHere we are ... day six of the Western Fair, and we the weather just couldn't be better! So far, exactly zero days of rain. I'm told at this time last year during the Fair, it had rained just about every day. Eight out of ten days got rain, according to the authority in the nearby Elephant Ears booth.

The Libro Library Road Show is there, look for us in the kiddieland area, just north of the talent stage. Come on over and chat with our friendly staff, grab a copy of our newest Access magazine, get yourself a funky LPL temporary tattoo, or even register for your library card!
The Road Show will be at the Fair the whole time, from today until September 20th. Hope to see you then!
Buddhist Meditation for the Beginner
3 September 2009 - 4:58pmA weekly meeting for beginning meditators and those interested in learning Buddhist meditation techniques. We will introduce Shamata, Vipassana, Maitri, and walking meditation and look at the Buddhist understanding behind these practices. This six-week course is open to anyone looking for support and guidance to establish and maintain a daily meditation practice. Chairs will be provided; bring cushions or benches if you have them.
