Canada Reads
9 February 2017 - 1:32pmCBC's annual battle of the books, Canada Reads, is only just over a month away. Five Canadians - an actor, a musician, a comedian, a performer and a veteran - have been selected to battle it out to become the next Canada Reads champion. The Canada Reads debates will take place from March 27 to 30, 2017 and will be hosted by Ali Hassan from CBC's Laugh Out Loud. Canada Reads 2017 will be broadcast on CBC-TV and CBC Radio One, and will be live streamed on CBCbooks.ca.

2015 Governor General's Literary Awards
10 February 2016 - 4:12pmGuy Vanderhaeghe is the winner of the 2015 Governor General's Literary Award for his short story collection Daddy Lenin and Other Stories. This is the author's first short story collection in over 20 years. Jury members had this to say about the collection: "each story is superbly crafted, razor-sharp, wickedly funny.
The Canadian Jewish Literary Awards
8 December 2015 - 9:43pmThe first Canadian Jewish Literary Awards were presented on October 18, 2015 at York University in Toronto. The winners represented writers of the finest books with Jewish themes and subjects by Canadian authors in a variety of genres. This award platform was created to fill the void left when, in the fall of 2014, the Koffler Centre for the Arts - long-time administrators of the Helen and Stan Vine Canadian Jewish Book Awards - announced their suspension.

5 October 2015 - 8:34pmThe 2015 Scotiabank Giller Prize short list has been announced. The announcement was made today, October 5, 2015 at the Bau-Xi Gallery in Toronto. The shortlisted authors are: Andre Alexis, Heather O'Neil, Samuel Archibald, Rachel Cusk, and Anakana Schofield.
Andre Alexis made the short list for his novel Fifteen Dogs which is also in the running for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize.

The Ontario Library Association offers eight reading programs to encourage a love of reading in people of all ages.
The 2015 Forest of Reading Award Winners are:
