The London Public Library is pleased to offer a FREE Book a Librarian service. During the COVID-19 closure, in-person appointments are not available but we can help via telephone or email.

Please submit a request via the Book a Librarian appointment request form for a one hour consultation with a Librarian.

1. Who is eligible to make an appointment?

This free service is available to anyone. We encourage everyone to sign up for a Library card in order to make the best use of our resources and services. Need a London Public Library card? Get a temporary account here.

Students in elementary or secondary school are encouraged to access London Public Library’s Project Help service.

2. Is there anything I can’t get help with?

This is not a research service. This is a service designed to help you make the best use of our library resources and collections and get you started on your research.

Book a Librarian service cannot:

  • offer advice (e.g., medical, legal, investment, tax preparation) except to advise users of reliable sources of information
  • type or proofread your document, resume, cover letter, etc.
  • offer troubleshooting or maintenance help with personal computers

Students in elementary or secondary school are encouraged to use London Public Library's Project Help service.

3. Do you offer instruction with computers or tablets?

Our Digital Essentials courses are not available during the COVID-19 closure.

4. Who will be helping me?

We will look at your appointment request and determine the best person on our staff to help you based on expertise and availability. Your information needs will determine who is best suited to assist you.

5. How long will my appointment be?

Appointments will usually last around 1 hour. If more time is needed, you may schedule another appointment through our website.

6. How do I make an appointment?

Complete the online appointment request form. Include as much detail as possible. We will contact you with more information or to set up an appointment. Staff can assist you with the online form by calling (519) 661-4600.

7. Where will my appointment take place?
